Harry Connick, Jr. first attained notice as the pianist on the soundtrack of When Harry Met Sally and a fine solo album on Columbia. He has since gained crossover popularity as a singer- recently on Broadway.

Sometimes described as a successor to Sinatra, he's more like Bobby Darin. In his pop appearances he's accompanied by his fine big band, heard here at length with his piano, but, unlike his concerts, this is not a vocal collection, save for a bit of Lucien Barbarin; it's a tribute to his roots city and culture. …
