The Bob Crosby Bob Cats have been reconstituted for a full decade now with authorization from the Bob Crosby estate. This, their fourth CD and first since 2002, is arguably their best. Drawing from Bob Crosby's entire recorded legacy, leader Ed Metz has pulled some familiar tunes together with several lesser known ones that well deserved to be rescued from obscurity. When we think of Bob Crosby, we generally remember the 1935-42 band, but Bob recorded much more in later years, and Ed Metz wisely draws from that period too with tunes like Back In Your Own Backyard and Aunt Hagar 's Blues. …
