Leonard J. South has been elected to a second term as president of the ASC.

Victor J. Kemper is first vice president for 1990. Jack Cooperman and Charles Wheeler and second and third vice presidents, respectively. Richard L. Rawlingsissecretary,HarryWolfistreasurer, and Joseph Westheimer is sergeantat-arms.

Elected to the Board of Governors were Howard Anderson, Joseph Biroc, Stanley Cortez, Linwood Dunn, William A. Fraker, Philip Lathrop, Woody Omens and Lester Shorr. Alternate members of the Board are Richard Kelley, Michael Margulies, Richard Glouner, Vilmos Zsigmond and Brianne Murphy.

The ASC Gala Annual Affair at the Bel Air Country Club January 13 was the best yet. The food, the music (Manny Harmon's orchestra), and especially the guests were great. Host Stanley Cortez presented an award of appreciation to the program's honoree, Howard Koch.

Special guests Karl Maiden, Walter Matthau and Howard Keel provided witty repartee about Koch, cinematographers and show business. Keel, who hadn't intended to sing, brought the house down-almost literally-with a magnificent performance of Jerome Kern's "Old Man River."

Three new associate members have been added to the ASC roster. They are Nasir J. Zaidi, Phil Radin and Bill Herndon.

Herndon, production manager of the Motion Picture Division, Agfa Corporation, was born in Arkansas in 1933. He began his photographic career as a darkroom assistant in 1942, then worked as a theater projectionist. While in the U. S. Army he specialized in still photography and upon returning to civilian I if e spent three years as a newspaper photographer. After receiving his BA in Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1961, he became technical sales representative for Gevaert now a part of Agfa - for the Western United States.

Joining the Motion Picture Division as sales manager in San Francisco in 1969, Herndon became production manager in 1988, shortly after relocating in Los Angeles. In matters of supply, sales and technical problem solving he works with film labs, sound companies, production companies and directors of photography.
