Living in a small town with a former U.S. pre- ident and a current U.S. senator-who also happens to be a presidential contender-is very exciting indeed! On Memorial Day, Senator Hillary Clinton marched in Chappaqua's annual parade, along with the Girl Scouts, soccer teams, bands and first responders. President Bill Clinton joined her at the memorial site.

Stirring as it was, this day was also sad for our town, because we honored Staff Sergeant Kyu Hyuk Chay as the first casualty to be added to our war memorial in 40 years. My husband, Bob, a New York Guard major, delivered the keynote about Kyu, and his recounting of the brave soldier's dedication to service brought tears to our eyes and pride to our hearts. Kyu was an aspiring lawyer when he enlisted and on track to become a JAG officer when he was killed.

Senator Clinton and President Clinton both started their careers as lawyers. In this issue, Working Mother is proud to feature our first competition among law firms, culminating in a celebration of the Best Law Firms for Women on September 24 in New York City. …
