The two compact discs here may be by the same band but they really are quite different as you shall see.

First, BTCD 2011 - a mixed bag of tunes including popular songs, a country and western ditty, a spiritual, some classic jazz numbers and the result is a fun filled hour plus of music by four men and one lady who know how to shade their dynamics, play counterpoint and just swing like crazy. The absence of drums and piano puts a heavy burden on the bass and banjo but these two really anchor this band. They even get the spotlight from time to time. "Bye Bye Blues" is an excellent example of this. "Thanks For The Memory" is worth the price of the disc. The work throughout is very professional by what I would guess is people who do this part-time and depend on other sources to pay the bills. …
