The IM cautioned that group insurance plays into the employer's hand by changing the employer and employee relationship. Employers were being offered policies that insured employees for one-third less than the cost of a worker insuring himself. When the employer purchases one of these group policies it has the effect of tying workers more closely to the job, a relationship to be studied by labor unions in the coming months.

"The very existence of a symphony orchestra in a remote pioneer town of 12,000 may be considered news," wrote Juan P. Miller of Local 650 (Anchorage, AK).
