Two Staff Members Join Department of Secondary Schools

Two members joined the staff of the NCEA Department of secondary Schools during the summer.

Gary Meyerl is the new assistant executive director, replacing Edmund Rice Christian Brother John Casey, who moved to new mission endeavors in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Meyerl is a 1986 graduate of Loyola College, where he earned a B.A. in theology and a minor in psychology. For the past 20 years he served youth and young adults in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He has served in a variety of roles, including director of youth ministry for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Pius X Catholic Church and director of campus ministry, religion teacher and coach at Mt. St. Joseph High School and Calvert Hall College High School. From 1997 to 2002 he was principal of The Cardinal Gibbons School, a boys Catholic middle and high school associated with the Lasallian Network of Schools.

For the past six years he was a member of the school board for St. Joseph Catholic School (serving as chairperson the past three years) where his three middle school and elementary age daughters attend. He also serves as an advisory board member and presenter for the National Center for Catholic Youth Sports. …
