Last year the Tom of Finland Foundation inked a deal for a Tom scent. To create it the foundation chose the fascinating Parisian art-house perfume concern Etat Libre d'Orange. This was not, perhaps, a surprise: One of Etat Libre's scents, created by perfumer Antoine lie, is Sécrétions Magnifiques, its concept of the smells of blood, sweat, saliva, and sperm. The surprise is what lie did with the new Tom scent: Where you least expect it, here is a completely wearable, beautifully executed translucent leather. No sweat, no sperm. Moreover, this leather is not a black boot at the Eagle but the tight, tanned seat of a spotless new Audi A4. Whoever suspected the world's preeminent gay fantasist-pornographer would inspire a thoroughly professional, presentable, excellent masculine scent? But then, this perfume will cover your skin.
