When your stress level is high

Have a backup plan. Regular exercise and meditation will help you manage chronic stress through the release of feel-good substances such as nitric oxide and brain chemicals called endorphins. But in the heat of the moment, at peak periods of high intensity, you should be able to pull out some quick stress-busting behaviors such as:

SCRUNCH YOUR FACE tightly for 15 seconds, then release. Repeat several times. This helps release tension you're holding above the neck.

TENSE AND RELAX different muscle groups one at a time (legs, stomach, back). This will relieve everyday stress.

BREATHE IN, lick your lips, then blow out slowly. …
