NCEA President's Term Extended for Three More Years

Dr. Karen M. Ristau's service as NCEA president has been extended for an additional three years. The new term extends through July 2011. The Most Rev. Donald W. Wuerl, archbishop of Washington and chairman of NCEA's board of directors, made the announcement Nov. 30 following the meeting of the NCEA board of directors. He also noted NCEA's appreciation of Dr. Ristau's dedication and commitment to NCEA's goals and of her energetic leadership over the past three years.

Responding to the reappointment, Dr. Ristau said: "I am pleased to continue my leadership of NCEA and grateful to Archbishop Wuerl for his great support and commitment to this organization. Our association provides direction, leadership and service to more than 200,000 people engaged in the educational ministries of the church including schools, religious education programs, seminaries and colleges and universities. While there are challenges ahead, the opportunities are far greater."

Dr. Ristau added, "Providing an excellent academic education-and education in the faith-to students of any age is a gift to our nation and to our church and vital to the future of both. …
