Muslim scholars raise world consciousness about Islamophobia.

The Spanish city of Cordoba hosted the OSCE Chairmanship Conference on Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims, from 9-10 October 2007, which was attended by approximately 300 participants, including experts on Muslims and tolerance issues. They considered the 13th OSCE Ministerial Council's decision that: "The OSCE [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe] should continue to raise awareness and develop measures to counter prejudice, intolerance and discrimination, while respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief, for all without distinction as to inter alia race, colour, sex, language, religion or belief, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

Miguel Ángel Moratinos (OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain), Manuel Chaves (president, Junta de Andalucía), Rosa Aguilar (mayoress of Cordoba), M. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut (secretary general, OSCE), Amr Moussa (secretary general, the Arab League), and President Jorge Sampaio (high representative, Alliance of Civilizations) addressed the opening session.

Four plenary sessions were held: "Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims: Old Prejudices and View Targets," "Consequences of Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims," "Media and Public Discourse as Instruments to Counter Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims," and "Educating to Overcome Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims. …
