This two-CD set features a massive choir of adults and children with supporting musicians in a festive service that was held on February 18, 2007. No details are given, but it is assumed that the service and recording were produced to benefit the Mark Thallander Foundation. According to comments made during the service, Mr. Thallander organized this event. It is a beautifully arranged service of grand music, including some of the great "warhorses" of the sacred choral literature. The music is closely aligned with corresponding scripture readings and prayers, focusing on several central themes. The service opens with Parry's "I Was Glad," followed by other hymns and anthems of praise, surrounding psalms and prayers of praise. The service then moves its focus to the Passion of Christ, with appropriate scriptures, hymns, and anthems. …
