FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN SANTA BARBARA I like Mexican food; La Super-Rica Taqueria is, of course, good. And the Wine Cask, right across from the Lobero Theatre, the oldest continuously operating theater in California.

WHAT GROWs IN HIS GARDEN Succulents, natives. I love pride of Madeira. I throw out seed for poppies, lupine, flax. I like plants that don't need much irrigation-I don't want to be watering all the time.

HIS INTEREST IN PHOTOGRAPHY I love to take pictures when I'm working on a movie, and I take family photos. My favorite camera is the Widelux. I first saw it when I was taking my class picture in high school. It was a panning still camera, and there was a rumor that if you ran around fast enough, you could be in the same shot twice. Which was true.

HIS FAVORITE PLACE TO ESCAPE I met my wife when I was filming a movie in Montana. Our first date was actually to go took at property. …
