This CD sure has the proper title. The music can be thought of as a very strong rope with the sounds of the six musicians braided through each other. This technique is really as old as the music is old. Yet, in this connection it has a very fresh and modern sound. All the music, save one tune, was composed by either one of the three Cohens. Avishai gets credit for four of them, Yuval for three and Anat for two. Each is very skilled in his and her craft. Freedom and Tfila really swing quite hard. Navad starts off much as a round or fugue but develops into a very intense piece. Several have the sounds, to this reviewer, of being based on Jewish folk music. The standard is played in free form for a chorus and comes off with quite a fresh sound. The whole album is a wonderful musical experience. …
