This is another in a series of recordings that Storyville is issuing under the title of In Copenhagen. Unlike most of the others, I do not know of this being a reissue of prior Storyville Recordings. The CD can be divided neatly into three segments.

Segment one shows Kenny Drew in a more economical and quite often more introspective mood. Also we have here a 20 year old bass player who will go on to many triumphs in his life. He is featured on Willow Weep for Me and it really is a bass solo from beginning to end. Also on the Oscar Pettiford tune Swingin' Til the Girls Come Home he has a lot of space. His playing is already a full package. …
