The New York Times recently featured author Josh Swiller who is profoundly deaf and obtained a cochlear implant at age 34. Swiller is the author of "The Unheard: A Memoir of Deafness and Africa," an account of Swiller's hearing loss and his experience in the Peace Corps. Swiller will speak at the AG Bell Convention on June 28 in the Celebration and Education Theater fin the Exhibit Hall) at 11 a.m.

The Washington Post published a follow-up article on Mark Leekoff, an AG Bell member featured 15 years ago as one of the first child recipients of a cochlear implant. The article discussed Leekoff's plans to attend medical school to become an otolaryngologist. He hopes to give other families choosing a cochlear implant the same attention and care, and provide patients "a unique perspective" as a doctor.

The April issue of Signews featured an interview with AG Bell Director of Communications Catherine Murphy. …
