Ovid Technologies, Inc. has announced that it has lowered access fees for its online service in the U.S. and Canada. Ovid has also announced that it is closing its office in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and shifting the majority of its European operations to new expanded facilities in London.

Effective immediately, Ovid has reduced the cost of access to Ovid Online by nearly 50 percent. This is part of the company's recent initiative to restructure software and database fees and render the service more affordable for small and mid-sized institutions in the academic and medical markets.

"Increased volume in our online business has allowed us to be more aggressive with pricing," said Carleen Nelson, vice president of sales and marketing at Ovid. "Rather than locally loading databases, more and more customers prefer the ease and convenience of remote access. We're pleased to be able to offer the state-of-theart online solution at a reasonable price point."

The Amsterdam office move is in response to a rapid increase in demand throughout Europe for Ovid Full Text products and a desire to support a growing international customer base.
