* Beetles Close Parks

In Colorado, a pine beetle epidemic will force the closure or delayed opening of national parks and forests until thousands of dead trees can be removed, according to the Rocky Mountain News. U.S. Forest Service officials say they are worried for the safety of those near beetle-killed lodgepole and other pines, which could fall over.

* Polar Bear Lawsuit

The state of Alaska is suing to remove the recent listing of polar bears as a threatened species, according to MSNBC. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service based the listing on projections that climate change will melt sea ice, the polar bear's habitat, during the summer seasons.

Alaska governor Sarah Palin says climate change models do not provide enough evidence to list the polar bear as threatened and fears its status will hurt oil and gas companies that work on Alaska's coasts.
