This is the fourth and final volume of producer Gösta Hägglöf's CD series of Armstrong Scandinavian recordings (see May 2006 Journal for reviews of the first three volumes). The musicians on the first ten tracks are identical to those on the last half of Volume 3. With Peanuts Hucko being featured on clarinet, the sound of the All-Stars is quite different than earlier '50s performances with Barney Bigard and Ed Hall. This alone makes this a must have CD for Armstrong enthusiasts even though the tunes are from Louis' standard repertoire. …
