The Special Libraries Association (SLA) and J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. have announced that Sabrina I. Pacifici is the recipient of the J. J. Keller Innovations in Technology Award. The award, a $1,000 cash prize, recognizes information professionals for innovative use and application of technology in a special library setting. According to the announcement, Pacifici won because of her accomplishments in the early and effective use of online information-dissemination applications and the establishment of a global virtual community of best practice for the profession.

Currently, Pacifici is the library director at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to that, she spent many years as a library director for a law firm. She is known for her online journal LLRX.com, which provides articles, guides, and training materials on internet research and technology issues encompassing legal and government information. She also has a blog, beSpacific, which has law and technology news with links to primary and secondary sources.

The Federal Library and Information Center Committee of the Library of Congress announced that Thomas F. Lahr has been named 2007 Federal Librarian of the Year.

Currently, Lahr is deputy associate chief biologist for information at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). He serves as a senior manager in the USGS Biological Informatics Program and has led the development of new ways to integrate and deliver information.
