NCEA Catechetical Resources for the Jubilee Year of St. Paul

Pope Benedict XVI dedicated a Jubilee Year 0une 29, 2008, to June 29, 2009) to celebrate the 2,000 years that St. Paul has influenced Christianity. In his opening address at the Basilica of St. Paul Outsidethe- Walls, the pope declared that he wanted to promote "an ever deeper reflection on the theological and spiritual inheritance bequeathed to the church by the Apostle to the Gentiles with his vast and profound work of evangelization."

The work of evangelization is at the heart of the mission of the church and is a cornerstone of catechesis. Some of us are called to live and teach the faith as parents, friends and co-workers; some are called to provide catechesis to all age groups in parish settings or to specific age groups in Catholic educational institutions. In whatever setting we find ourselves, the Word of God is central to our task.

To highlight the importance of this Jubilee Year, the NCEA Department of Religious Education commissioned Jacqueline Schatzle Halliburton of Houston, Texas, to create four original artistic interpretations of scenes in the life of St. Paul.
