AS PART OF a larger tour of the southeastern United States, the Rev. Stephen Sizer, vicar of Christ Church in the UK and the author of Zion's Christian Soldiers and Christian Zionism: Road-Map to Armageddon?, spoke at the First United Church of Tampa and at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. Both events were well-attended by receptive audiences.

Comparing Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine to apartheid in South Africa, Reverend Sizer noted that the former was largely made possible by American tax dollars.

His speech was part of a three-day event at the University of South Florida called "Searching for Peace in Israel-Palestine." The second day's speaker was Alison Weir of , who described her study of how media in the United States has reported the deaths in Israel and Palestine since the beginning of the latest intifada. Israeli deaths are over-reported, Weir noted, while Palestinian deaths are vastly under-reported. In addition, she pointed out, over 80 Palestinian children were killed before the first Israeli child died, and more than 140 adult Palestinians were killed before any Israelis died. …
