OBITUARIES: Henry Black Ingram Jr

Henry Black Ingram Jr., 76 years old, September 13, 2008, from complications associated with bladder cancer. A native of An- niston, Ala., Henry Ingram spent his formative years in Los Ange- les, Calif. After two years at Bir- mingham Southern College, he enrolled at the Eastman School of Music, where he met his wife, Lucy, of 54 years. Lucy and Henry each earned bachelor of music degrees from Eastman. Henry earned a master's degree in piano performance from Yale University, after which he became a professor of piano at Greensboro College in North Carolina. After ten years at Greensboro, he took a sabbatical, at which time he and his family moved to Los Angeles where he finished a DMA degree at the University of South California. Dr. Ingram retired as professor emeritus after 38 years of service at Greensboro College. He was the recipient of the school's Moore Professor Award for 1994-95.
