I'm getting seriously ready to attend the NASP convention in Boston and assume many of you are, too. The first convention was held 40 years ago, and when you get to a certain age you realize how short a time that really is: Some of the people who were active in NASP at the very beginning of its existence are still active today. One such person is Tom Fagan, and on the front page of this issue he gives us his personal view of NASP history and teaches us a little something about the evolution of school psychology itself during that time. Tom is the NASP Historian, and I would have expected a contribution or two from him this anniversary year, but he has gone beyond the call of duty and has independently taken the initiative to write articles, send me old copies of CommuniQUÉ (we reproduce some of their covers this month), provide photographs, and e-mail me numerous times with ideas, material, and information. I am really grateful for his generosity and enthusiasm for this project. Thank you, Tom.

We have a number of articles related to mental health in this issue. You have already noticed the front page article on problems with the use of suspension as a strategy for dealing with behavior. Inside is an article about the passage of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, landmark legislation that finally requires that insurers provide the same level of benefits for mental health that they provide for physical health. In addition, the COMMUNIQUÉ online discussion this month focuses on the article by Lazzaro, Conolly-Wilson, and Susan about the PREPaRE Crisis Prevention and Intervention Curriculum. …
