For many, April brings to mind blooming tulips, bright yellow raincoats, maybe even the satisfaction of spring-cleaning. For me, April will always be the month Mike and I got married. Our wedding reception at La Belle Epoque in New York City felt like Paris at the turn of the century and was, as we'd hoped, a great big party celebrated by everyone we love most in the world.

As for our happily ever after, a house, a dog and a child later, we still look forward to seeing each other at the end of the day. Mike and I are similar in many ways, but we're opposite in others: I'm a planner and make lists; he lets life unfold. We like to think that we complement and learn from each other. One of the things we're always working on is the art of compromise. When you're both working full time and raising a charismatic young child, it's easy to lose sight of each other.
