Ministers Consult on Nuclear Power Station Location

Members of the public have one month to respond to proposed sites for 1 1 new nuclear power stations.

The list, published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change on April 15, has been vetted to ensure applications are credible and sites can be operational by 2025.

The locations have been nominated by energy companies interested in building the stations and by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The NDA owns the sites of the UK's older generation of reactors, many of which are no longer operational.

Hartlepool and Heysham have been nominated by EDF Energy as a potential location, and Sellafield and Bradwell have been nominated by the NDA.
