This is a very intense solo piano solo outing and the pianist surely must have been exhausted at the end of the recording date. The touch and meter remind me somewhat of Thelonious Monk, yet his heart is in the same place as the heart of Bill Evans. There are times he reminds me of the intensity of Ran Blake. One thing is for sure - he knows what he wants to do and goes about it in a most direct manner. The CD captured me from the first time I heard it until now, which may be the 9th or 10th time around.

The program consists of 6 original pieces plus 4 others. The first tune is so abbreviated that about the time you think he is about to go into another area, it is over. The element of surprise is wonderful. …
