The U.K. Library and Information Sci- ence Research Coali- tion announced that Hazel Hall, PhD., has been appointed to provide strategic leadership for the newly established coalition. Hall is the coalition's first appointment. She will serve 2 days a week, coming from her other role as reader in social informatics in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University. Hall is a researcher in library and information science who began her career in the 1980s at the University of Birmingham and Birmingham Polytechnic. Since 1989, she has held research and teaching roles at Queen Margaret and Edinburgh Napier Universities. Hall is also a Fellow of CILIP Currently, she serves on the boards of two LIS journals, Library & Information Science Research and the Journal of Information Science.

LYRASIS announced the appointment of Dee Anderson as the new director of information technology. In this posi- tion, she will be respon- sible for leading a team to manage operations, develop solutions, and support LYRASIS; for designing, introducing, and implementing technology solutions and services; and for mainteining support services to external members and internal customers.

Anderson has more than 17 years of senior information technology leadership experience across several industries. Most recently, she was director of enterprise sales technology for IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group). Before that, she was technical product manager at John H. Harland Co. Prior to that, she was director of enterprise application support at Innotrac. Anderson is a member of PMI (Project Management Institute) Atlanta.

The New Jersey State Library (NJSL) announced that seven New Jersey libraries were recognized for excellence in digital storytelling by NJSL at a ceremony in the New Jersey State Museum Auditorium. The recipients, which took part in the state library's Tell Us Your Story Video Competition, are the following:

Cape May County Library won first place for its video "Get Your Game On at Your Library," and West Deptford Public Library received second place for its video "Hector Zapian." Third place went to Cranbury Public Library for "Finding Love at the Library," Ocean County Library for "Ocean County Library's Sparks BFF," and South Orange Public Library for "South Orange Photo Story." Honorable mentions went to Mount Laurel Library for "Bret's Story" and West Orange Library for "Bright Ideas. …
