Creating Great Public Schools for All Using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Inclusive Practices Summit

NASP was a supporting partner for the na- tional conference on UDL and Inclusive Practices held at the National Education Association headquarters in Washington, DC on September 16, 2009. The event was cohosted by the Including Samuel Project at the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. The summit, attended by approximately 250 attendees representing a wide range of interested stakeholder groups, included the screening of the award-winning film, Including Samuel, and a Q & A discussion led by the film's director and producer, Dan Habib. Themes and activities for the day included how UDL practices con- tribute to successful inclusion models, exploring core values as they relate to inclusive practices, defining a joint mis- sion for use of UDL and inclusive prac- tices in schools, and creating a vision for the future. In addition, the accomplish- ments and ongoing advocacy work of the National UDL Taskforce were presented.
