Peer Review Corner

Article excerpt

The Canadian Music Educator/Musicien éducateur au Canada is pleased to announce the establishment of 'Peer Review Corner' as a regular feature of the quarterly publication. Authors wishing to have articles submitted to a panel for review may send them to Dr. Lee Willingham [lwilllingham@wlu.ca] with that request. This initiative within our own publication fills a void for Canadian scholars who wish to submit their writing to peer juries, and disseminate it to a Canadian audience.

Submitted articles are to be in the standard format outlined on the CMEA/ACME website [http://www.cmea.ca/publications3.htm]. A panel of three respected academic reviewers will be asked to evaluate the articles on a range of criteria, including significance of topic to the field, theoretical/conceptual framework, research design and methods, quality of writing, and overall contribution to the field.

Authors are reminded that the readership of CME/MEC is made up principally of classroom music teachers, undergraduate and graduate students, and professors. Articles should address the challenges and issues that are relevant to music education practitioners. Teachers and prospective teachers are encouraged to become familiar with the work of Canada's leading music education thinkers and researchers. This is intended to inform and enhance our professional practice in music classrooms.
