For dancers who hope to head west to begin their professional dance careers, Hollywood Vibe may be a great path. "Our faculty consists of top L.A. dancers and choreographers who have worked in film, television, live stage and music videos with some of today's hottest stars," says director Christopher Smith. "But they haven't forgotten how to work with and inspire young aspiring dancers." New faculty members for 2009/20 1 0 season include Kevin Maher, Geo Hubela and Chuck Maldonado (hip hop and street jazz), Josie Walsh (ballet), Joaquin Escamilla (lyrical) and Nick Gonzales (rhythm tap).

Hollywood Vibe was created in 1 998 as a convention-only company, but it has grown to include not only 23 regional conventions but two national competitions as well. "Participants can expect an organized and on-time event," Smith says. "And teachers and dancers can expect to get to know our popular faculty in a more up-dose-and-personal environment. Dancers will walk away with the feeling that they accomplished many things and the desire to dance even more." The scholarships and awards certainly don't hurt this notion; they include scholarships to study at L.A.'s Millennium Dance Complex, plus the chance to nab the L.A. Agency Award, where dancers are flown to L.A. to meet with agents from McDonald Selznick Associates and receive a headshot session with a photographer.

For those who can't get enough classes during the established weeklong conventions, the organization introduced its one-day intensives, VIBE, this past fall in four cities. …
