Okay class, let us see a show of hands of those who know of the jazz musician, Larry McKenna. Just as I suspected, you need to become acquainted with this first rate, 'first call' Philly tenor player. He did travel a bit in his youth with the Woody Herman orchestra but that was way back in 1960. He has been a part of the Al Raymond Big Band in the Philly area now for a number of years and doesn't need to travel much. In addition he has one other CD to his credit and has recorded with various local musicians no better known than he.

McKenna is an excellent mainstream sax player who swings easily, and lyrical too. …
