If you have a predilection for the melodies of the 20s and 30s this one is for you, not least because it features a non-hackneyed selection of tunes from the era. Spats sings on many of them, either in a pleasing early Crosbyish voice, but sometimes sounding more like Ukulele Ike. The excellent period arrangements are by our member Mike Durham, while most of the participants are very well known and established in British jazz circles. …
