OBITUARIES

John Albert Davis Jr., 86 years old, March 18, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N. Y., following a courageous battle with cancer. "Jack" was born July 21, 1923, in Pulaski, N.Y., to John Albert and Ruth Potter Davis. A fraduate of Pulaski Academy, he ecame an organ major at Westminster Choir College but interrupted his studies to join the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War ?, serving with distinction as a bomber pilot and flying 66 missions over Germany and the occupied countries. When he returned from duty, he married Dorothy Ann Deininger on August 6, 1945. He resumed his studies at Westminster, graduating with a BMus degree. The couple was then recruited by Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Jack became organist and choirmaster, and Dottie Ann directed the children's choirs.

In 1955, Davis was appointed by President Eisenhower to serve as organist and choirmaster at the United States Military Academy at West Point. …
