USOC program and kit makes it possible for local communities

THE UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE can facilitate a visit to your community by an Olympian or Paralympian to engage your members on their experiences and participate in your activities. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) will provide the kit of everything you need to host your very own Olympic Day celebration and an account representative to work with you. This is an opportunity for members of the National Recreation and Parks Association to partner with the Olympic Movement.

Olympic Day, celebrated annually on June 23 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, is not only a celebration, but an international effort to promote fitness and well-being in addition to the Olympic ideals of fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. The goal of Olympic Day is to promote Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

To accomplish this, the USOC has designed a toolkit and a program that will make hosting an Olympic Day event as easy and turnkey as possible, at minimal to no cost. …
