This live concert is made up of very intense playing by all but especially the leader. It is as if he has so much to say and so little time to do so. In reality, he didn't live all that long after this date, for he passed away on June 1, 1982.

His widow Laurie Pepper writes very informative booklet notes about this tour in Europe, and states that the music here is the entire concert on the night. How they played at this level all that evening is beyond me. Art was already a sick man and yet the troupe had played almost every evening in a different locale. …
