Evil Expected to Extend Overseas Reign for Sony

Resident Evil: Afterlife should hold on to the box office crown this weekend and has raced to more than $41.7m through Sony Pictures releasing International's Salt (SPRI).

The horror film opens in around 11 new territories, among them Mexico, Brazil and South Korea.

It's a busy weekend for SPRI with launches for Easy A in Australia, East Pray Love in Italy, Italian-speaking Switzerland and Japan, and The Other Guys in the UK and a host of territories.

Salt stands at more than $156.3m while The Karate Kid has taken more than $168.2m. Grown Ups has grossed more than $85m.

Warner Bros Pictures International's Inception has reached $456.5m and Cats And Dogs 2 is on $56.5m and opens in Italy, South Korea and Australia. The Town opens in France day-and-date with North America.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International's Toy Story 3 has amassed $632.1m while The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which opens in New Zealand this weekend, has grossed $130. …
