Tatum to Star in Randall Wallace Period Adventure the Mercenary

Channing Tatum will star as a Virginia cavalryman who travels to the court of Catherine The Great on an undercover mission in Randall Wallace's $65m adventure romance Love And Honor: The Mercenary.

Fusion Films partners Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi are handling worldwide sales and Fusion is producing with Wallace's Wheelhouse Entertainment.

Wallace presented the project to buyers at the Loews Hotel on Saturday [6] and explained that the two-hour film would combine the epic qualities of Braveheart, which Wallace wrote, with the fun of Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Production is set to commence in April and the producers are aiming to shoot in Russia, the Czech Republic and the US.

Tatum, whose credits include G.I. Joe, Dear John and Fighting, will play an 18th century American who at the behest of Benjamin Franklin pretends to be a British mercenary and travels to Russia to lobby the formidable tsarina not to join the British in their war against the Americans. …
