NTV Closes AFM Deals for Gantz

The Japanese broadcaster sold the two-part film to a number of territories at the market.

Japanese broadcaster Nippon Television Network (NTV) has closed a string of sales deals for Shinsuke Sato's two-part science-fiction action film Gantz at AFM, which wrapped on Wednesday (November 10).

In Europe, Wild Side Films picked up rights for France and Tiberius bought German speaking rights. In Asia, Hong Kong rights went to Golden Harvest, to Catchplay in Taiwan, and Encore for Singapore/Malaysia.

A US deal is imminent while rights for the UK and Australia are under negotiations according to an NTV sales representative.NTV held an RSVP-only screening of part one for buyers at AFM. Both films were sold as a package.

Based on Hiroya Oku's best selling manga and Gonzo's subsequent anime franchise, Gantz is a $48 million two-part live action adaptation. …
