Tribeca Film Takes US Rights to Bang Bang Club

Tribeca Film has taken the Apartheid drama off the shelf and will release theatrically in the second quarter of 2011 as well as on VOD and other platforms.

Tribeca Enterprises executive vice-president Adam Sloan and Tribeca Film's acquisitions consultant Randy Manis brokered the deal with producer Daniel Iron of Foundry Films and Charlotte Mickie of international sales agent eOne.

Steven Silver's film premiered at Toronto and stars Ryan Phillippe, Malin Akerman, Taylor Kitsch, Neels Van Jaarsveld and Frank Rautenbach. The story follows a group of photojournalists who drew the world's attention to South Africa during the final days of segregation.

The Foundry Films/Out of Africa production was produced by Daniel Iron, Lance Samuels and Adam Friedlander.

"The Bang Bang Club takes you deep inside the final days of Apartheid, showing you everything these photographers went through in order to show the world what was unfolding there," Nick Savva, director of acquisitions for Tribeca Film, said. …
