Enhance the Value of Your Convention Experience

How many experiences can you get in one place that: (a) directly contribute to your professional competence and skills; (b) help you maintain your professional status in terms of credentialing, certification, and/or licensure; (c) give you a choice of nearly 1,100 professional development sessions that address the spectrum of issues in the field; (d) provide resources you can use in practice and training back home; (e) potentially open up career opportunities; and (f) connect you with colleagues facing the same challenges and opportunities as you? All for around $199 if you are a regular NASP member and $85 if you are a student member. If it isn't the only one you attend this year, the NASP 2O11 Annual Convention is certainly at the top of the list.

You can accomplish an incredible amount at the convention in San Francisco, February 22-25, 2O11, particularly if you do a little planning and take advantage of a number of opportunities that can further enhance the value of your convention experience.

Value-Added: Attend the seven documented sessions specially designed for advanced practitioners. With payment of a $5 processing fee per session, an entrance ticket and guaranteed seating will be provided. Plus, attendees will be eligible to receive a certificate of attendance documenting NASP-, APA-, and NBCCapproved CPD credit. Six of these sessions are sponsored by the Convention Committee, and the other by the Society for the Study of School Psychology (SSSP). Participants in each session will earn 80 minutes of NASP CPD credit (1.33 credit hours). By attending all seven 2011 sessions, participants will earn 9 hours and 20 minutes of CPD credit (9.33 credit hours). The strand of 2011 Documented Sessions includes the following presentations:

Principal collaboration: Bring your principal to the convention to improve collaboration. New in San Francisco, NASP is offering a special registration fee of $100 for school principals who attend the convention with their school psychologist. This is a great way to expose your principal to the breadth and depth of the expertise and commitment of school psychologists and improve your collaboration capacity by increasing your principal's knowledge level on key topics.
