What did you find most gratifying about performing with the Berlin Philharmonic and conductor Daniel Barenboim?

It was one of the most profound musical experiences I've ever had in every way. Working with Barenboim, working with that orchestra - I felt incredibly lucky. ... I was really learning from them every step of the way. We were all in a very focused, intense, higher state of mind. The whole experience elevated everyone.

Did the DVD recording add a certain amount of pressure or force you to change your playing in any way?

It was a very intense thing that it was in Oxford - the birthplace of [the late cellist and Barenboim's wife] Jacqueline du Pré - and that it was televised and that I knew it was going to be released. I guess it just raised the intensity level of the whole experience, but I wouldn't say it changed things musically. …
