What do you have when you have the personnel in place as in this CD? Right, a swinging affair with only enough of slow numbers to provide some contrast. This is a mainstream to bop release and a mighty fine one. Some of the music may need a bit of explanation but most is well known as well as the composers. Aussiology is from the pen of Nicki Parrott. She put a boppish upbeat number on paper that includes excellent solos from her as well as the co-leaders.

While on the subject of solos, one would expect Vaché and Allred to excel, but Tardo Hammer is one fine pianist. …
