The beginning of a new year brings hope for the future like nothing else does. It forces you to look back at the year before, at the good and the bad, to create goals and plans for the future that is open and bright. Like everyone else, the staff at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will do this - and take a big sigh of relief.

[The year] 2010 was a tough year for the library. All public libraries of Ohio received an approximate thirty-one percent cut in state finding; of course T-SPL was included.

The decreased funding came at a time when Ohio's public libraries were experiencing an unprecedented increase in the demand for services.

To save money, open hours and staff hours were reduced, the materials budget was slashed, and miscellaneous charges and fees were changed or added. Yet this was not enough.

After all this, for the first time in its 130 years, Tiffin-Seneca Public Library brought a levy issue to the voters. Thankfully, with such strong support from the Seneca community, the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library's levy passed! …
