A NEW FILM CHRONICLES YVES SAINT LAURENT'S 50-YEAR LOVE AFFAIR.

In his documentary, L'Amour Fou, director Pierre Thoretton traces the decades-long relationship between Yves Saint Laurent and his business and life partner, Pierre Berge. After the designer's death, Berge chose to auction off the couple's staggering art collection and donate the proceeds to a new foundation for AIDS research. Experts considered the 2009 event one of the most monumental sales of the century (Christie's estimated a total value of around $390 million for the yoo-plus works on the block), but even as a crew dismantles the couple's sumptuous, gallery-like estate, removing rare Asian sculptures and pulling classic impressionist canvases from the walls, the real story lies in the poignancy of Berg?'s words. "I'm not at all nostalgic," Berge says at one point in the film, recounting their nights spent partying with friends on the terrace of their villa in Marrakech. …
