This year's British Championship promises to be the strongest ever. As a result of an energetic campaign by TV Egghead C.J. de Mooi, President of the English Chess Federation, Darwin Strategic have stepped in to sponsor a magnificent line-up which includes Michael Adams, Nigel Short and David Howell. The two chess enthusiasts closely associated with Darwin Strategic are grandmaster David Norwood and Ali Mortazavi.

I recall that when teaching chess at St Paul's School in London many years ago I was profoundly impressed by Mortazavi's tactical ingenuity.
