Consider the fact that more than 80% of enterprises don't have a document management system in place, says Greg Milliken, president of M-Files. While it may seem to be a luxury to many, the realities of having a document management system are quickly moving into the must-have category.

M-Files document management software has been keeping enterprises organized since 2005, but the company, now with footholds in Texas and Finland, has been entrenched in the organization business since its founding in 1989. Today, M-Files reaches 14,000 customers in 70 countries in 21 languages. "We've moved past the horizontally based solutions and we've managed to penetrate every vertical, which speaks to the flexibility of the system," says Milliken. While the company's focus remains on small to medium-sized businesses from accounting and finance to insurance to pharmaceuticals, M-Files has bigger clients, including the United Nations and AstraZeneca.

The latest version of M-Files in the Cloud Vault runs on the Windows Azure cloud platform, which makes it the first and only professional document management solution that operates natively on Windows Azure, says Milliken. While M-Files software offers easy and efficient document organization, search functions, and tracking abilities, the Windows Azure cloud platform adds another layer of protection to ensure scalability, reliability, storage, replication, and integration.
