The finalists for the first annual PUMA Creative Impact Award have been announced, with the winning film-maker picking up [euro]50,000 towards furthering the film's social impact.

The five finalists for the first PUMA Creative Impact Award have been announced.

The [euro]50,000 award, part of an ongoing partnership between Puma and the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation, was set up to honour documentaries that have made a significant impact on society.

The five films were chosen from over 70 submissions by BRITDOC and an independent committee of social change and documentary experts. Each film was judged by the impact of the film on the community, how it created increased awareness of an issue, or caused changes in attitudes and behaviour.

They will now be judged by a jury that includes Queen Noor of Jordan, Morgan Spurlock, the Ford Foundation's Orlando Bagwell, Emmanuel Jal and Thandie Newton, with the winning film being announced at a gala hosted by PUMA and BRITDOC in London on Oct 11. …
