"There's always been an isolationist strain in the Republican Party, the Pat Buchanan wing of our party. But now it seems to have moved more center stage, so to speak," John McCain tells ABC's "This Week." The WaM Street Journal, in turn, warns of "Kucinich Republicans" denying President Obama carte blanche to wage war - sorry, "kinetic military action" - in Libya. (And give WSJ points for chutzpah: "The House debate on Libya was a fiasco of evasion and posturing that vindicated the Founders for not trusting Congress with the power to run a war," the editors wrote. Just who is supposed to declare war in the first place?) Lindsey Graham and the American Enterprise Institute have taken to the airwaves and Internet. But conservatives are no longer listening: the Libyan War has accomplished what the 8-year debacle in Iraq never did: driving a wedge between neoconservatives and the Republican grassroots.

For the first time in over a decade, no leading GOP presidential contender - hapless Tim Pawlenty doesn't really count - ballyhoos for greater intervention abroad. …
