Children at risk from smoke in cars

Wales could become the first country in the UK to ban smoking in vehicles that are carrying children. First Minister Carwyn Jones said legislation could be considered later in the Assembly's current term if smoking cessation initiatives were found not to be working. 'Children are particularly at risk from secondhand smoke, especially in vehicles,' Jones said.

Minister in 'high lerci' talks

Scotland has stepped up its efforts to secure European Union funds. The next EU funding round takes place in 2014 and discussions are already taking place. Alex Neil, Cabinet secretary for infrastructure and investment, said he was 'eager that it [the funding round] has the greatest and earliest impact possible in Scotland'. He has held 'high level' talks in Brussels with relevant commissioners to put Scotland's case. …
